The equine water treadmill is effective for improving stamina, circulation, strength, flexibility, posture and gait. Less stressful on the joints, our water treadmill provides 12X more resistance than air and more effective injury recovery as well as overall fitness improvement. The temperature controlled water is adjusted to various levels dependent on fitness level and speeds are regulated to maintain or challenge your equines cardiovascular fitness. Waste is contained to eliminate fecal matter in the water, and fresh water is used before each horse’s entry to prevent spread of bacteria and disease. The water treadmill at Champion Equine Rehab & Training Centre has the capability of working your horse on an incline. This type of training makes the horse work its back end resulting in a stronger and more complete athlete. The water treadmill is also very useful for improving topline and gait, building muscle strength and flexibility in the shoulders, back and hindquarters. The treadmill can be used to modify a horse’s movement pattern by adjusting the speed of the treadmill belt, and by adjusting the water level to create more or less buoyancy and resistance. Clear viewing panels allow us to observe if horses are moving equally with all 4 legs, sufficiently engaging the hind limbs, moving in balance through their topline and if they are tending to lean to one side or the other. The water treadmill is above ground and the horse’s head is outside of the submersible area. This innovative design means your horse will not ingest or inhale water should it slip, our treadmill is also equipped with fall protection.
